Christianity 401: The Practice of Godliness

Godliness is more than a character trait.  It is a foundational spiritual quality that makes the Christian life dynamic, effective and pleasing to God.  This course examines what it means to grow in Christian character and will help to establish the foundation upon which that character is built.  In order to live godly lives, we need an inward foundation of God-centeredness.  This course uses Jerry Bridge’s “The Practice of Godliness” as a text.

Christianity 402: “The Fear of God is the Beginning of Wisdom”

Fearing God hardly sounds like an occasion for joy, but through this study you will learn how the fear of the Lord is actually the key to true knowledge, wisdom, blessing, and joy.  The supplemental text will be Jerry Bridges’ “The Joy of Fearing the Lord” ($9.00).  In these five brief lessons, you will gain a deeper understanding of who God really is.  You will be drawn into a truly biblical, and surprisingly delightful, fear that will include an authentic, heartfelt enjoyment of the Lord.  You’ll make the startling discovery that the fear of the Lord is not to be avoided, but is actually the key to joyful, fulfilling and genuine intimacy with God.  It will change your relationship with the Lord and it will change your life.

Christianity 403: “Keys to Spiritual Growth”

This study of God’s word will address key issues within the life of every Christian.  We will study what God’s word has to say about our purpose for living, how to unlock the power of the Holy Spirit within our lives, how to pray more effectively, the keys to successful Bible study, the best means for witnessing to our family and friends, and how to discern truth from error.

Christianity 404: “The Pursuit of Holiness”

“Be holy, for I am holy,” commands God to His people.  However, according to Jerry Bridges holiness is something that is too often missed in the Christian’s daily life because we’re not exactly sure what our part in holiness is.  In his book, The Pursuit of Holiness, Bridges helps us see more clearly just what we should rely on God to do - and what we should accept as responsibility for ourselves.
