Grow - Bible study image“The study of the Bible is de rigueur for the Christian. More than a duty, it provides protection for the daily battle, comfort for dashed hopes, and continuing education for a life that is worth living.”  -- Howard Hendricks

Many people own a bible, read it on occasion and even take it to church, but do not study it. Why? Perhaps they feel it is out of date and need something that works for today. Or they lack technique and don’t know how or feel they can’t understand what it has to say. Maybe it is an issue of priority or doubt. Whatever the excuse we need to realize the importance of not only reading, but studying what God has revealed about Himself and His creation.

The bible is God’s word and is “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) The overall purpose then of bible study is to equip you for every good work. We need to prepare ourselves through the study of God’s word to be effective instruments in His hands. One author says this, “You are either in the Word and the Word is conforming you to the image of Jesus Christ, or you are in the world and the world is squeezing you into its mold.”

At Wellington we hope you will find that these in-depth studies of God’s truth revealed in His word will lead you to spiritual growth, maturity and effectiveness. We pray that through surrounding yourself with other believers in bible study you will be encouraged to persevere and not lose heart and will see the vital significance of your life.
